Historical background
Founded in 1896, the settlement consisted of 161 households with a predominantly Russian population by 1928 and served as the center of the Verkh-Yaminsky rural council. In the post-war years, an upsurge began here associated with the virgin lands campaign: young machine operators arrived, new equipment was delivered, and in 1957 the "Vostochny" state farm (sovkhoz) was organized. Despite the outflow of population in the early 1970s, in the spring of 1988 the Biysk Chemical Combine took the local farm under its patronage, which led to the appearance of new houses in the village. Grigory Parfilovich Bessonov, a hero of the Great Patriotic War awarded numerous combat orders and medals, was born and lived here.
