Historical background

Founded in 1909, the village was initially part of the Kotlovansky rural council, which was later renamed Semenovsky. By 1928, the settlement had 131 households and a population of 663, the majority of whom were Ukrainians. P.T. Derid grew up in the village—chief of staff of an engineering-sapper regiment, posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Banner for participating in combat operations in Afghanistan; and Great Patriotic War veteran I.D. Ognyannikov was also born here. Since 1973, a two-story brick house of culture has been operating in the village.

Natural surroundings

Not far from the settlement is the man-made Blue (Lazorevoye) Lake, formed on the site of a copper sulfate quarry and distinguished by its turquoise water, surrounded by rocks and thickets. The "Tayozhniye Dali" recreation base operates in the vicinity.

Living culture and memory

The Altai Krai people's amateur collective "Theater of the Semenovsky Rural House of Culture" operates at the rural house of culture. A football tournament in memory of fellow Afghan war veteran Pyotr Derid is held annually in the village. Historical materials record the tradition of visiting local springs (krinitsas) on the Wednesday between Easter and Trinity, as well as the custom of newlyweds landscaping the springs before registering their marriage.
