Historical background
The village was founded in 1907 (according to other sources — in 1908) by Mennonites from the Molotschna and Khortitsa colonies as part of the Orlovskaya volost of the Tomsk province. In 1930, the "Krasny Oktyabr" agricultural artel was created here, and during the Great Patriotic War, about 40 residents were mobilized into the labor army and sent to the Kuzbass mines, logging, and a soda plant. In 1951, Protasovo became the central estate of the collective farm named after Engels, which in 1993 became a breeding farm, and by 2026 the population of the village reached 1,131 people, despite the active emigration to Germany that began in the late 1980s.
