Historical background
The selo of Novobarnaulka is located in Kalman District, Altai Krai, and is part of the Shilovsky selsoviet; it was founded in 1918. Earlier there was a settlement called Starobarnaulskoe, which, according to residents, appeared before Barnaul; after World War I people came here in search of land, and in 1919 the settlement Kulichikha formed near Starobarnaulskoe, named after a swamp with sandpipers and a small river flowing into the Barnaulka. In 1923, after the construction of a primary school, the outlying settlement began to be called Novobarnaulka; in 1926 there were 92 households and 502 residents, and the selo was the centre of the Novo-Barnaulsky selsoviet of Barnaul District, Barnaul Okrug, Siberian Krai. In the 1920s an oil mill and a tar work operated; in the 1930s the kolkhozes Krasnoflotets and Borets operated, and after the war they were merged into the kolkhoz Novy Put. In the 1970s the Novobarnaulka branch of the Lenin sovkhoz was one of the leading farms; in the early 1990s the selsoviet was closed in connection with the formation of the Shilovsky sovkhoz. The street network consists of Novobarnaulskaya and Ozyornaya streets.
