Historical background
The settlement was established after 1924. In the early 1940s, it had over 1,200 residents. In the post-war years, a timber transport enterprise and a timber harvesting enterprise operated; timber was transported via the Kulichye–Zavodskoye–Petrovka railway. The settlement's demise was connected to the liquidation of the timber industry: the school, where about 160 children had once studied, closed; in 2002, due to the small number of students, the basic school was closed, and the primary school remained until 2005. As of 1 January 2003, Kulichye had 14 households and a permanent population of 47. According to a note in the district newspaper "Na zemle Troitskoy" (On Troitsky Land) dated 18 June 2016, the last residents were 89-year-old Vasily Alekseyevich Kolerov and his son Alexander. Currently, no one resides in the settlement.

Living culture and memory
In 2021, a local history expedition of the Altai Krai branch of the Russian Geographical Society took place, during which students of Troitsky Secondary Schools No. 1 and No. 2 visited Kulichye, held a "Lesson of Memory," and tidied up the area around the monument. On 9 May, former residents of the settlement traditionally gathered at the monument to honour the memory of the fallen and congratulate veterans. The prevalent religious tradition (during the period when residents lived there) was Orthodoxy; the gastronomic culture was represented by Russian cuisine.
