Historical background

In 1785, the revision records of the Uksunayskaya volost noted the village of Gornovoy Kamen; in 1795, it had 49 men and 53 women. In the late 18th century, documents refer to the settlement as Kamenskaya, in 1816 as Gornovskaya, and in 1834 it received selo status and the name Gornovoye. As early as the 17th century, mineral deposits were discovered in the vicinity. Active development began in the early 20th century with the arrival of settlers from the central part of the Russian Empire. In 1926, the village of Gornovskoye had 569 households and a population of 3,228 (1,577 men and 1,651 women); the ethnic composition was predominantly Mordvin; two first-stage schools, a reading house, and a consumer cooperative shop operated; the village was the centre of the Gornovsky selsoviet in Yaminsky District, Biysk Okrug, Siberian Krai. From 1930, Gornovoye has been part of Troitsky District. During the Great Patriotic War, 284 residents went to the front, 55 were killed, and 43 went missing. In the Soviet period, the kolkhoz "Krasnoye Znamya" (Red Banner) was located in the village, holding leading positions in various indicators in the 1970s; during perestroika, the kolkhoz found itself in difficult economic conditions, and in the 2010s its bankruptcy process began, after which a peasant farm was created on its basis. In 2011, the Gornovsky selsoviet was abolished and its territory incorporated into the Khayryuzovsky selsoviet. As of 1 April 2026, the population is 525. Notable figures include Anatoly Filimonovich Mikhalyov, honorary citizen of Troitsky District and veteran who participated in suppressing the anti-Soviet uprising in Hungary in 1956; Mikhail Artyemyevich Aksenov, a World War II veteran awarded the Order of the Red Star and two medals "For Courage"; Mikhail Alexandrovich Pesterev, a tank crew member awarded the Order of the Red Star and the Order of Lenin for conscientious labour (1976); Yegor Pavlovich Belomyttsev, a junior sergeant awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st class; and Leonid Matveyevich Dolmatov, honorary citizen of the city of Myski, who fought from Moscow to Vienna.
