Historical background

The settlement was established in 1931 after the central estate of the Proletary seed-breeding sovkhoz was relocated from the village of Petrovka to Gordeyevo station; in the same year, Troitsky District received its name. Initially, the settlement lacked cattle yards and production facilities, and not all workers had housing — they had to settle in dugouts. In the 1960s–1970s, a period of prosperity began: farms became mechanized, manual labour became a thing of the past, the settlement was home mainly to large families, and an eight-year school operated. The Gordeyevsky rural council (selsoviet) municipal entity was established on 1 December 1965 by a decision of the Executive Committee of the Altai Krai Soviet of Workers' Deputies; it comprised four settlements: Gordeyevsky, Oktyabrsky, Razdolny, and Klyukvenny. In 2012, in accordance with a law of Altai Krai, the settlement of Razdolny was abolished. As of 2026, the settlement's population is approximately 1,182. The settlement houses the local administration, a post office, a railway station, and a school; a feed mill with a full production cycle operates as the town-forming enterprise. A notable figure is Dmitry Mikhailovich Zakharov (1922–1997), manager of a division of the Proletary breeding farm, who was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labour in 1966 for success in livestock development; under his leadership, the Oktyabrskoye division won the socialist competition during the 7th seven-year plan. Also mentioned is Ivan Yakovlevich Eybog, a veteran of labour and home-front worker, who celebrated his 95th birthday in 2021.
