Ballastny Karyer
The settlement of Ballastny Karyer, located near the Krasny Dol station, emerged in the 1930s in connection with sand extraction for railway construction.

A historical photograph, village view, landscape, or related heritage object will be displayed here at a later date.
Historical background
The settlement presumably emerged in the 1930s near the station opened in 1936 (until 1961 — Siding No. 296) during the development of sand quarries for the needs of railway construction. In 2009, the settlement was officially assigned its modern name based on a decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. Currently, the infrastructure is limited to the track facilities of the West Siberian Railway, and a significant part of the residential development has fallen into decay, although proximity to the city restrains complete desolation. As of 2020, the population was 102 people, and residents receive social services in nearby settlements. B.I. Skakunov, a participant in the Great Patriotic War and head of the quarry, is buried in the local cemetery.
